Just bought a '51 1.3 GLS. Bit more than I wanted to pay but I got myself a good bargain.

Is to CDX spec (so has everything on it)

Screen price was £5,500
After haggling, money off, my part exchange and the deposit, total amount payable is £3,800. Poor Toyota salesman shouldn't have served me.

I got a good car AND a good deal!

What does a Proton GLS have to do with a Toyota salesman? And by " '51 " did you mean a 1951 model?!

On a different note, while Proton isn't an outright bad manufacturer they are not even close to Toyota's or Honda's reliability records.

Im from the UK.

UK car registration information :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_car_number_plates

After 2001 on a 'Y' plate or for example Y840 KDC we changed to this style :
DU51 HKM
Start of 2002 :
DU02 PST
Late 2002 :
DU52 PMX

Basically first 2 letters = town registered in, first number = jan to july or sept to dec (0 is jan to july, 5 is sept to jan) second number is year (1 = 2001, 9 = 2009)

Last 3 characters are serialised by the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency)

My reg is GU51 HBO.
Looking online, my car was registered in Brighton between September and December 2001.

It's a Yaris 1.3 GLS.

www.parkers.co.uk have complete technical details on ALL cars, trims and their extras available in the UK made after 2000

My car : http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/specs/...px?deriv=20659

The site comes in very handy weighing up a new car, add to that NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) and you have a free way of looking up specs on new and used cars without needing a brochure or needing to talk to a pushy salesman.
