Rockland noticed a difference and he claimed that the car was smoother. If you have basic knowledge of suspension you'll find that it is counterintuitive that stiffening the chassis brings a smoother ride, because road vibration and shock are more clearly transmitted through a rigid chassis.
Unless, of course, that the chassis is so flexy that it flexes more than the suspension does. Bracing this flexy chassis would force the suspension to work. Given our experience with the Yaris LB this would hardly be the case - to me, the monocoque is stiff enough as it is (but this is subjective). So it is unlikely that you actually gain a smoother ride with the body bracing. I would love to hear any theory on how a stiffer chassis creates a smoother ride.
