going ghetto
I know its way ghetto, but I went with pipe-insulator. It looks and feels like the name-brand matts...a closed cell foam, sticky on one side, foil on the other side. I also taped all edges with cold-weather, HVAC foil tape.
I've no way to compare this set up to any of the name-brand matts, but it made a *huge* difference! The only worry I have is if it will stay put in next summers heat. As far as price...2 rolls insulator @ $17 and 1 roll HVAC tape @ $20. We'll see what happens next summer! |
