Holy Smokes! (no pun intended ;))
If someone has time, they can look through the service manual and figure out what's actually behind the dash. If the ignition is off, most of the wires will not be live, so that would narrow down what could cause the fire. I don't think the flashlight is a cause. Only lithium batteries will vent flames, and I really doubt that flashlight used lithiums. Alkaline batteries might explode and release hydrogen gas but won't start a fire. Best of luck getting Toyota to cover the damage. Let us know what happens. |
