ok, while not all black Americans or other races voted for Obama simply because he's black A LOT did...they were all over the news....the vindication for slavery, etc...I really don't care that Obama is the president, anybody who got this term is going to have a very TOUGH road...but I think even Martin Luther King himself would have been disappointed...for it was he who wanted to be judged by the content of his character and not the color of his skin....and I'm quite sure he meant that whether he was being judged badly or favorably..just because of his skin color.
This statement is so stupid, racist, & insulting, I almost feel embarrased for her. This gal is hopelessly & utterly clueless. Where is she getting her "statistics"? Did a lot of white people vote for McCain simply because he is white? Millions of white people cast their ballot for Barack Obama, (college educated whites voted far more for O than whites who are not college educated) as did millions of blacks, Hispanics, Asians, etc. etc. I think people wisely voted for Barack Obama for several reasons, including his character. He's a brilliant man, and he ran a PHENOMENAL, masterful campaign, always staying on point, never wavering from his message. He was unflappable. Obama's message for change deeply resonated with people, after 8 years of the worst administration in our history. After 8 years of Bush, and the country being in a financial meltdown, were we to expect that logically the best choice would have been to elect yet another Republikkkan...one who voted with the current administration over 90% of the time?? I certainly don't think so, and obviously neither did the American people. McCain floundered badly. He WAS George W. Bush, & no matter how hard he tried to distance himself from that train wreck, he simply couldn't. A 90% voting record with the Bush administration is not something a candidate in 2008 wants to highlight...it's a fact he ran from in shame. McCain thought Palin would be the perfect ingredient in getting him elected, and it looked like it was working at the beginning...until she opened her mouth. Then, we all realized he'd picked a know-nothing...an arrogant know-nothing at that. She did well on the campaign trail, and energized her crowd, but on the rare times the McCain people allowed her to be interviewed--to be herself, not reading from a campaign speech--she flubbed badly, and it was obvious that she was in no way ready to be Vice-President of the United States. While McCain kept changing message, he tried to create a new "non-troversy" (my word...a 'controversy which is made up, and meaningless') each week, hoping to get American's outraged & angry enough to vote against Obama. Nothing stuck because American's had seen this before, and weren't buying it this time, thankfully. If anything, they were angry & outraged at Bush/Cheney/McCain. Obama won because he's a smarter man, and was a better choice and a better candidate. He represents hope for our future. McCain represented the failed policies of the past. Barack Obama's meteoric and historic rise from obscurity to the Presidency is nothing short of a phenomenon, rarely--if ever--seen in politics. Barack Obama's journey is the living embodiment of Dr. King's 'I Have A Dream' speech, and if Dr. King could possibly see what has happened, he surely would be beaming. Barack Obama is a transformational figure, a man destined to lead. He was--by far--the better choice for this country at this time. That's why he won. |
