Sticks & stones will break my bones....but an Obama Presidency has left me so elated, joyful, exuberant, and hopeful about the future that nothing can take the grin off my face, or dampen my enthusiasm in any way.

I am just counting the days (75, now?) til George slinks out of the White House, and the new, young, beautiful Obama family moves it.

It's a new & better era in America, and I am filled with a sense of pride and reverance that I have never before felt.

President-elect Obama, you're amazing!

I"m glad to hear you back off the insults and so will I. There is nothing wrong in celebrating the victory of the man you voted for, just do it in a humble manner without attacking others. You of all people should want to treat others with the respect that you feel you deserve.

This has been a fascinating thread: I wondered what would happen here. As a Canadian, the US election affected us a lot, along with many other countries, most of which were hoping, even praying, for Obama. The last ...person... was an incredible failure as a leader: look where he led the US, and because of his policies, the rest of the world!

I figure that if the US can get out of the habit of starting wars, your country's deficit could disappear in a short time. Can Obama vanquish the Hawks in the US? We'll see...

The one stat that struck me was regarding Obama's speech in Chicago: 200,000 people, and the cops reported on 9 (nine) incidents. In a crowd that size? In Chicago?? Yes, folks, times are truly changing.

I think I know Bob well enough to realize he doesn't REALLY feel that way. I believe what he was trying to illustrate to some people is that my words were not racist...what Bob posted was racist...

My turn.....For anyone who has been in the military as I was.... we swore to defend the United States against all ememies foreign and dosmestic..... follow the orders of the people appointed above us and the President of the US..... When I started out in the Army Nixon was still sitting in the White House....... I survived through many presidents including Clinton. It changed nothing in the daily lives of a soldier. It taught us a good way of life.......

I think Obama is smart and will surround himself with smart people. I refuse to pre-judge how things will come out...... I can only hope.

TLyttle.... the USA is not in the habit of starting wars..... we are just strong enough to step in when needed and not just stand by and watch. Not many people will try to stop a fight.

Sipngas..... EVERY president has been joked about and mocked ........ I would agree that the Curious George thing would have been in bad taste .... last week ........however, now that Barack has been elected he is fair game. Keep your ears open to the comedians.

People that know me .....know that I am not prejudice, racist or sexist in the least..... yet another thing that I refined while in the Army.

After 8 excruciating Bush years (worst President in American history) I am truly overjoyed. A dark cloud has been lifted, and January 20th can't get here fast enough! Let's celebrate! Let's party!
