This whole "debate" is silly.

Here's the link to Toyota's own financing website. The 0% rate on Yari only applied to 2008 sedans - regardless of what any newspaper ad might claim.

Just type in your zip code and see:

http://www.buyatoyota.com/

Someone posted the following ad on the previous page. That dealer is in zip code 78230. Type that in and you'll see that the dealer's newspaper ad is erroneous in that the 0.0% rate does NOT apply to any 2009 Yari or to 2008 Yari hatchbacks.

Watch the fine print and bottom line. Some car companies will offer 0% in lieu of rebates or other markdowns.

It depends on what area you live in. Some areas are offering 0% on LB and Sedans while others are offering it only on the Sedans

I got around to reading the fine print today for a local Toyota dealership. "Advertising offers in lieu of 0%" They didn't have a Yaris in the paper so I'll use a Tundra for an example. MSRP 30,423 at 0% for 3 years = $30,423. Sale price 23,995 at 7% for 3 years = 26,672. So you would save $3,751 by using your own financing. It would take a 7 year loan to hit the break even point. This is an extreme example and this dealership is known for their bait and switch tactics, however, I don't think a dealership will budge off their MSRP or window sticker price when offering 0%.

they should , it's TOYOTA making the loan , thus a discount from the dealership should apply . I think with slower sales the dealership could discount $700 ( > or < few hundred $ ) along with the 0% . The dealer usually gets the loans for the vehicles on their lot through a local bank interest free I believe , then after 3 months they start paying interest which cuts into profit margin . So I was told . That's why there are bigger discounts on new cars that have been sitting around for months . Therefore winter , poor economy , tax time , upcoming holidays can be a friend to you due to slower sales .

It all depends on what region you live in. And also, once a dealer sells the 08's it has on their lot, the sale is over since they will not be getting anymore. For example, my local dealer has 1 08 Sedan left. The sale is over once they sell it or 12/1/09. Which ever comes first. So if your dealer didnt have any 08's when the 0% sale was released, it wouldnt apply to your dealer.
