Canadian ones do come with filters as i just had mine changed and it was very dirty,

I think the US is the only Yaris that doesnt come with one.

I;ve since tossed the filter and now run without one,seems like a kinda pointless feature when i run with the windows down for most of the year..

I hear ya, but I tend to run with the windows up during dust storms, wildfire smoke, when I'm near diesel engines, construction sites, etc. I appreciate any filtration I can get during those times.
