My uncle found this:
You'll need to convert your .NEFs with the latest version of Adobe DNG Converter if you'd like to develop them in Photoshop CS. This free program supplied by Adobe converts your RAW files into the Adobe's .DNG format which can be read across multiple versions of Photoshop. http://www.adobe.com/products/dng/ If you don't mind trying other RAW converters, I'd recommend RAW Therapee: a powerful RAW workflow application; or Picasa 3 beta: a powerful photo organizer with basic RAW tools.
