i had allstate when i bought my yaris, and my insurance (20, female and i had 2 points on the license at the time) went from 120/mo to 209/mo... needless to say I dropped Allstate. I cant find cheap car insurance ANYWHERE (with no points now.. granted I am still young and limited driving record), and classification might be why, never thought of it

Regardless, I have Safeauto, which leaves me feeling pretty insecure if I ever needed to file a claim, but I can afford my car insurance (142/mo)

no school, had a good gpa 3 years ago, havent taken the defensive driving :( i should probably look into that...

BUT new car, no abs, no side air bags, S model (which affected my Allstate quote for whatever reason), and young age = can't wait for some kind of drop in price!

My policy renews every six month. Just renewed in Feb 09. Here are the prices for six months We have three vehicles on our insurance and total six month premium for three cars is 816.00. The Yaris is not that expensive and of course we have taken defensive driving classes which give extra discount on premium.
2008
TOYOTA
YARIS 6 month policy coverages costs.
Bodily Injury Liability $250,000/$500,000 $60.30
Property Damage Liability $50,000 $43.30
Optional Basic Economic Loss $25,000 $6.20
APIP in limits of $50,000 with $2,000 work loss.
Additional Personal Injury Protection $50,000/$2,000 WL $8.50
Residual Medical Payments $5,000 $0.50
Supplementary Uninsured Motorist $250,000/$500,000 $14.50 Basic Personal Injury Protection $200 Deductible $36.50
Comprehensive $250 Ded. With Full Glass $18.30 Collision $500 Ded. $78.00
Emergency Road Service Full Coverage $4.60

TAKE that defensive driving, it saves the most compared to any normal discount(excluding Allstate special plans like my Premier Plus) it took off 93.00 off.

Also, depending on what age are you, look into the TEEN driving program

If my credit wasn't shot, i would be looking at 600 for half a year of full coverage 500 collision......

Few more tips for Allstate:

-sign up for Easy Pay plan
-Recommend Premier Plus - it takes 100 automatically off your deductible(my 500 becomes 400), accidents are automatically forgiven(no real limit), AND you get 5% back at the end of the term IF you have no accidents! Sure Premier Plus cost more, but in the end you save more in ratio to the benefits.
-Pay in FULL - it's the way to go. No worries of monthly payments, and fees, and you get a larger discount.

go to Allstate.com and type in 'discounts' at search

Hope you save some money! I really needed it because of my credit problems!

o yea , they probably did up your quote because of the S model. Statistics have shown people who drive sportier cars get into more accidents(it's all about the $$$$ for insurance companies) Since the S model comes with front/back lips and sideskirts, it is now Sportier)

ARgggh!

Once you hit 25, make sure you get a new quote!

*Hint: if you can, try not telling your insurance company that you have the S model/ or for future cars, a sportier model. Most will not check.

Frack.........call me illiterate, bro. Then this post is embarrasing - i swore subsequent means backward, not "succeeding" order.

should have used a dictionary first.

Still, that's BS. why 2003 and NEWER models are not discounted? wat's the logic behind it.

Well, new cars cost more money to fix, and since a vast majority of drivers on the road tend to drive newer vehicles, it keeps their proifts up. Seeing that 90% of people who sign an insurance document, dont read it word for word...
