Okay lets get back on track, Engine damper
as eTiMago said the shock that i showed on pg1 and or infact any air /gas shock would more than likely be too soft, which is true to a piont . ![]() the thing to remember is,that it is a shock absorber , it has 20x's more travel than a nitto damper (rubber ring filled tube) which basically has no travel at all . it's like filling your engine mounts with a resin (it takes away movement). But it induces vibration into the car , true or false .what i am trying to say is that even though the the gas /air shock might be too soft for track conditions it might be perfect for those that don't want the vibrations , or require such harsh dampening .(street conditions) some is beter than none , or even too much . i hope all that made sense.if not just shoot me now . and i will go away quitely

I think what you are saying makes sense. It is possible with a stiffly sprung short travel motorcycle of MTB shock to have an improvement in the rocking motion of the engine with minimal vibration.
Another idea for decreased vibration is to have some type of vibration dampening material where the engine damper mounts to the body such as a large rubber bushing. Even if there is a small reduction in the vibration from the rubber/soft polymer, it may make a significant difference. It sounds like the best option after all the brainstoming here is very short travel, stiffly spring suspension unit. After hearing the basic technology in the nitto dampener - Nitto is making quite a profit on this product. Another possibility is making the DIY damper two-sided therefore increasing the stiffness. May also have a positive benefit if there is a tortional component to the engine movement. |

Rigid requires some pretty solid balls! But....you may be on to something. Let's say you used a piece of not to thick curved spring steel. Where it attaches to the frame/body you use a piece of rubber or other elastomeric type of material to help isolate some of the vibration. I know there are a couple of threaded holes on the bottom of the engine. Perhaps these can be utilized?
