I was planning to buy a 2010 Ram 3500 in the fall to replace my 2003. Looks like I'll be waiting........

Any inside news on the new engine? I didn't think the 2010 diesels were going to be any different.

The 2010 is a little beefier and I work in the test department where we run every engine that comes off the line and it looks totally different. The ECM is lighter and all the internals crank, pistons, rods are lighter. I am not for sure on the final horsepower or the torque but I know its up there. You have no idea how hardcore we are on the engines and making sure they are right before we ship them to Saltillo.

Every 15th engine is ran in a 25 minute audit test at full and i mean full 3500 rpm throttle to test it out. We now cold test and run them in what we call our attribute cell. The cold test cell is a new technology for diesels and Cummins was the first to have them for diesels and we have 4 cells. We test for gear noise in the front of the engine and it also checks the turbo, sensors, injectors, cylinder balance, and everything else you can thank of.

The 2010 engine is in the works and being finalized and the 2012 Dodge truck is suppose to be redone visually and everything else, and with the new engine in 2011 we are supose to blow Ford and Chevy out of the water.

Just between us we have had Ford reps at out Tech Center with 3 or 4 Ford truck which was rumored to have Cummins diesels in them, which we are starting to build a V8 and V6 diesel to go into lighter cars. Heck we even had to apply for a new EPA certification because the air leaving all the plants is so much cleaner and we have already met the emissions standars up till 2012.

I've been happy with my Jeep, other than the crappy gas mileage.

They said the three things that would never go away is the Jeep brand, Dodge Trucks, and their minivans. They gave us a website to follow all their stuff on. Its scoop.chrysler.com

Thanks for the link. It's fascinating to see the news from the inside.

Only dodge I had ever liked was the Crossfire.
It was different, elegant, and basically the cheapest Mercedes SL320 you would ever buy!
The SRT6 model got good reviews from the ones I have read.

Well, aside from the Crossfire being based off of the old MB SLK, I was actually just pointing out that it was badged a CHRYSLER, not Dodge.

But yeah, it was a Daimler-Chrysler concoction.

And yes, Mercedes destroyed Chrysler and bleed them dry. What a shame.

There is currently no Chrysler product (sans a Jeep) that I'd spend my money on at this point.

Thank god, I don't have my 2004 chrysler sebring convertable, it was a nightmare of a car. Got rid of it cause the engine had sludge build up problem, I'm sticking to yarii no matter what.

my last car was a '96 chrysler concorde. i got it with 78,000 miles on it and traded it in for my yaris with just under 272,000 miles on it and have only had minor things go wrong.. things that i fully expected. similarly, my dad's jeep just bit the dust a little while ago with 374k miles on it... we've had pretty good luck with them, so i voted (what should have been), "maybe/maybe not" =P

If they paid my insurance for life, paid for new tires, oil changes, maintenance for life, gave me a set of 20"s, tinted the windows, bought me a system, completely chromed out the engine bay, and installed a traveling kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and guest sleeping suite you still couldn't convince me to spend $5 on anything they make.

:)

(PS - I really like the look of domestic cars with 20"s and chromed out show ready engine bays ... it's just my minitruckin' side coming out lol)
