Hawaii has strict noise laws. If you're in violation, it doesn't matter what excuse you give. Find out what applies to you and follow it.

I have an after market sys in my Celica.....Kicker amp, Kicker sub and new speakers.

Now, I am considerate and keep the volume down when in my neighbohood etc.

However, when on a main road I turn it up at times, I will turn it down out of consideration if I pull up along side another car (like at a red light) and we both got our windows rolled down.

Bottom line... A little consideration and respect for your fellow man/woman goes a long way.

If the car next to you can hear and/or feel your music, it's way too loud. I'll admit, I like to turn up my music, but if I'm in a residential place (or any where else other than the freeway), I'll have it turned down.

I like hearing other peoples music, as long as its not loud. It adds brightness and color to my day, like birds singing, or women in bright colored clothes, or a flash car, or or a billboard or big electric sign in an urban environment, or a painted bridge or some colorful buildings. I like stimulation and interacting with the environment around me. If it doesn't interfere with my conversation or my listening to my media I'm fine with it. This of course does not include rude excess.

Hi Bob, we're kinda alike! both emotional, sensitive and artistic! enjoying life is most important to me! life is short! no matter walking, driving, beatuiful ladies, fantastic sceneries are all around. And pls forgive my honeymoon period with my cute new Eonon stereo, I'll still play it loudly in highway with my windows down, feeling the breeze, fresh air, and the Hip-hop! Oh god set me free! But sure I won't lose my self-countrol in the crowded, otherwise people will throw their shoes to me, I guess not only yelling!

1)the faster the car is moving the louder you can have it...
example... nobody is going to hear your car even if its blasting at 140+ dB's if you're doing 70's on the highway with your windows up.

2) If your windows are down you gotta cut the volume by half of what you normally can get away with

3) If you're not moving, like sitting at a stop, you should lower the volume until you start moving again... Most stereos come with an Attenuation button that'll decrease the volume by like 20dB instantly... or you can just turn it down by hand.

Just FYI, Harleys come new with quiet exhausts. Their owners spend lots of money to make them loud.

1. That guy is a nut job for saying 'you're going to get it' becuase he heard your system.

2. When you have a system (I have one myself, and always have...) you should - out of respect - turn it down/mute it at stop lights/signs, in residential areas, and any place that it might get you looked at funny.

I personally don't bump my system as I go through the hood (I head some juvenile diversion classes in some extremely sketchy areas in Minneapolis and don't feel like getting car jacked), where I live (hello car theft...) or at stop lights because the mini-van to the side of me full of children might not want to hear the colorful lyrics of Three6Mafia =o) lol

It's all about respect.

Ill agree with the fact that harleys are way to loud and people make alot of noise mowing there grass, but I feel that if someone can hear it next to you with there windows rolled up its gonna more than likely cause you to suffer hearing loss and is too loud! Also if you can hear another drivers horn then you probably dont have it up to loud^-^

Knowing my kind of humor, I would have probably replied back to him "If I'm gonna get it, it better be big and thick or else don't waste my time" haha.

Yeah if others can hear it, then it might be a tad too loud.

There is a big difference from a little music drifting out some ones car window @ 50 watts than being assaulted by window rattling 12" subs at a couple thousand watts.

Just be respectful and turn your music down when your in neighbor hoods. Or roll up to stop lights with other people around. Then blast your music where ever else you go, Like a BOSS!

If that's really that big of a problem for you then you have some issues. And this is coming from a 19 year old kid.

I usually only crank it on the highway, in traffic, or if I need to cover up someone else's music at a stop light.

EDIT: Led Zeppelin always gets cranked, regardless of where I am (except residential zones) and who's next to me.

You're brave, and Led Zeppelin is even braver, god, you guys totoally don't care about the cops? Covering up someone else's music at a stop light must be even blamed by more people around!
