My Yaris is a 2008, much too new to have this kind of trouble.

However, I have eventually had this kind of symptom with almost all the front wheel drive cars I ever had (Honda, Nissan) and it's always turned out to be one or both of the CV joints.

Get it up on a hoist (not a jack unless you have proper stands - safety first!) and have a good look at the outer CV joints. Chances are that the pleated rubber boot on one or both sides will be torn.

If the problem is really longstanding, all the lube will have sprayed out, and the inside of the joint will be full of sand or dirt.
