Unemployment in CA is now at 11.5%. The state is talking about a pay cut.

You guys have nothing on Michigan. 22.5% unemployment rate with the average median house value being $6,000. Yes, that's a 6 with three 0's after it.

If you are willing to pay for the property taxes you can get houses for free in Detroit, so I hear.

I know that we did and I'm sure we still do, you can buy a house for $1 as long as you fix it up to standard housing code.

^ Find me a decent one; I'd probably buy it.

meanwhile.... housing prices rose 0.8% around here? that's kind of strange...

There's seriously alot of beautiful houses in and around Detroit. Very unique in the architecture and alot of vintage homes. Gorgeous pieces of property, it's just the neighborhoods alot of them in are total crap and I wouldn't want to live there regardless if they cost only a dollar.

What's the average median price for a home in Cali right now? I'm sure it's no where near $6,000 or else people would be flocking like seagulls to the that state! lol

Housing in SoCal has obviously dropped, but it's still more expensive after the drop than most of the country before the drop. But, I'm only comparing housing and property, SoCal is obviously more expensive because of all the other things beyond the property.
