6000km and you want to wash it?

Even if you are in a sandy environment you don't want to clean a K&N element that often.
Did you read the instructions on the filter when you installed it?

A K&N filter actually needs some dust build up to properly work. A Just clean/new filter will filter less than one with some dust built it.

I would tell you not to wash it more than once a year.

Oh and regarding the washing process. Do you have the K&n cleaning kit? The instructions are on the box?

Stay AWAY from compressed air... it would destroy the fibers on the filter.

Just use warm tap water to remove the dust and then re-oil untill the filter looks red again.

If your filter still looks red then you are not even close to needing a wash.
