the area of a circle is directly proportional to the maximum amount of water a pipe can shoot out right?

well case 1: 2*(3.14159 * 5^2) = 2*(PI*25) = 157.0795
case 2: 1*(3.14159 * 10^2) = (PI*100) = 314.159

There are two pipes but remember that the square function (y = x^2) is an exponential function which means the higher the input you give it the exponentially higher the output is. Example 3^2 (9) + 3^2 (9) is less than 6^2 (38).

Gogo 10" pipe!

edit: this is the same reason large exhaust pipes and wheels have such pronounced effects on cars!
