HIGH intensidy discharg has been around since 89. and low and behold...30 years later when the patent runs out....bam...it's all over the place.

next thing to come to the car market will be spherical valves. no more popet valves and cam shafts. i'm expecting it in another 5-10 years. it's out now but you gotta buy into it. they had a 5.0 mustang that almost doubled horsepower, and can handle compression ratios up to 17:1 on 87 octane pump gas....and the engine will work on anything from propane, kerosene, alcohol, gas, even waste from production plants that they usually burn off.

any way, it's nothing abnormal. look at CD or even halogen lamps. halogens started off as sealed beams until they realized that they could make the lamp glass thicker and put a perfect vacuum on it. hell, plasma tv has been around in military use for the last 20 years....
