I didnt make it for functionality... however it is made of solid steel and its 6mm thick, so Im pretty sure it would work alright in some cases, but with its shape... Im not sure....

The chances of me ever having to actually "use" this hook are slim to none anyways Just for looks!

mine will be used mainly as an attachment point for the strap holding my kayak down.

Is it a whitewater? I would love to carry my 8 ft kayak, but im afraid of the plastic bumpers breaking with the front and rear straps... I'd need rails.

It is. I need a rack too. I cut styrofoam blocks to fit the shape of the kayak edges so it sits off of the roof.
