why dimple in middle of hot/cold knob

Hi. Love the FM Power package Yaris. No complaints so far. Just looking at "control" panel with hot/cold knob and wondering why the dimple/slot at the "noon position" above the knob. My only guess is that it is supposed to represent the halfway mark between hot and cold. But rather useless IMHO.

really now, thats is to show where your selection is, since you turn the dial

kinda like saying the dimple/stripe on the fan speed selector is useless too ??

i know the dimple, and its so you know where you have the heat/cold set at, how would you know if the heat was on full if you didn't have this marker to go by.

eg turning the knob to the left of the dimple controls how much heat, turning to the right controls how much cool air, with the dimple being the set point.

You don't need the dimple because you have the blue and red markings. But if the dimple is so important, then how do you know "if the heat is on full" at NIGHT as the dimple does not light up??? I would agree if the markings weren't on the dial.
