the V.S.C. and T.C. will give you better handling in poor driving conditions . Had a '06 XB with these safety features and did very in ice and snow with the stock GOODYEAR tires . Still suggest studded snows ( all 4 wheels ) for the extra security . Even V.S.C. and A.B.S won't help you stop faster or corner on ice . CONSUMER REPORTS did a test of stops on ice with studded COOPER WEATERMASTER ST-2's and stopped 20 feet shorter than non studded snows . GOOD LUCK

forgot , I put a 40 lb. bag of salt in whatever YARIS ( over rear wheels in trunk or hatch ) is being used if snow/ice is predicted for next days travel . Then remove when forecast looks better .

If you don't have back problems to start the Yaris will be fine for a 6'2' person.
I have back problems and commute 60 miles each way. All I can say is OUCH!

Well, I pulled the trigger today! Ended up being $13,500, $300 below invoice. Meteorite metallic, with a manual transmission and crank windows, but with Cd player. I liked some of the other colors, but they didn't have anything else with a MT and cranks except for bright blue, which I wasn't interested in. At any rate, I'm getting a body side molding put on (father was adamant, and he cosigned on my loan), so I have to wait till Wednesday to pick it up, which will be agonizing.
Now I need to sell my old subaru...

I'm getting ready to buy a 3-door manual LB with just the convenience package myself, so I'm jealous!

One quick question for anybody: if you get the stereo that comes with the convenience package, the only way to use an iPod with the stereo is via the AUX input, right? And if this is correct, do I need to also buy an iPod cable?

Congrats again, and wish me luck with the negotiating. My Geo is not running that great so I am hoping to buy before the New Year.

About the inside mirror, on my 2007 there were two joints in the attachment, and with a little work I could move it up a bit.

Any information on how to do this? I'm getting a huge blind spot behind the mirror, which makes right turns a bit scary.

6'5" an no problems with comfort. Yes my legs are bent quite a bit but that's typical of almost all cars when you're tall.

I'm glad that you did not get that black side molding. It would have been BUTT UGLY. Side molding should match the color of the car, if it is going to be on the car at all.

Well, I had my first experience with the traction control today.. Quite a snow storm we had and my Yaris handled it very well.. Had a little bit of sideways sliding going around a corner too fast in 1" of snow, but nothing major.. The stock tires really aren't great winter tires at all, that's for sure.. Problem is, my good set of Blizzak snows is on my 15 year old Saturn that has a bad Tranny... Changing the tires in the winter time is not fun, especially with snow and ice on the driveway, it can be dangerous if the jack slips.

How do I know if stability control is working? All I saw today was the little boxy traction control icon blinking when I was accelerating from a stop or accelerating out of a turn.. Is there not a stability control light in the 2010 Yaris??

Well, here's the car! Picked it up on Wednesday...what a nice Christmas present of sorts! I LOVE driving it, although I keep forgetting how small it is!

I'm 6'2" tall. The 1st week driving was uncomfortable for me but after that I was fine. That price seems reasonable based on MSRP values. The car is not intimidating at all so people will push you around on the road. I had to slam on my brakes one time when a semi-tanker decided to switch into my lane, I think he saw me too. One can solve this issue by installing performance axle-back exhaust and air intake, maybe even lowering it a little to give it a more aggressive stance.
