Right on track with the "purple haze" remark. Those wheels just ain't big enough to deal with the Texas Sand they put on our roads, never mind proper dunes.
The best thing for sand is still a Manx or equivalent. I built my own duner a couple of years before the Manx came out, left the engine at 36hp (enough considering the 880lb AUW), and had a blast for a few years. Best ever use of a VW Beetle! |
