^ You would have given up your BB for a droid? Traitor!!! (j/k
) The big Q is would you give up your BB for a phone with a virtual KB instead? BTW, your 2d post doesn't show anything. |

I'm thinking all these people got used to the iPhone KB so it couldn't be all that bad ? The iPhone virtual KB does look easier to adapt to than the Android stock KB, at least to me, but I guess that's what apps are for ?

Id have to totally agree, I have never gotten use to touch screen. I have the eng touch which I got specifically for the touch screen but also the physical keyboarding which for me is a requirement of any phone I want, I tried both the iPhone in the stores and my friends, and I still don't like virtual keyboards 100% on any phone

Ditto. Coming from more than a decade of Palm use, which required hunting for tiny keys with a stylus or hand writing one jacked up "Graffiti" letter at a time, the finger-usable on-screen keyboard and the trainable on-the-fly spelling correction of the iPhone are most welcome changes.
Also, the less moving parts a device has (such as a flip out keyboard, like on the G1) the less likely that something can break, and the less likely it will permanently steal valuable screen real estate (like a BlackBerry).

Check it out - been using an earlier version of this on my WiMo phone for quite some time. It's an awesome shell replacement for smart phones and they now have an Android version.

I have the 3GS. Switching to the Moto Droid... Anyone have any tips on how to simplify moving everything from my MobileMe to Google stuff? Like calendars, contacts, etc? How do they compare? I haven't had enough time to play with the droid and get anything out of it.. By the sounds of things, it seems you droiders are happy!

Nexus One with keyboard.
![]() now that'd be a really cool phone. http://windowsmobile6.com/articles/n...ical-keyboard/ When, and will they keep Android OS? I'm also interested to see what the HTC Expresso coming to the US in the Spring is going to look like. http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2010/...mobile-in-may/ damn, the minute you get one device, it's obsolete right out of the box!!

OK. I have an announcement to make ....
drumroll.... ... I have returned the blackberry. For the record, the only problem I had with the BB 9700 was/is the size of the screen. That little thing is really impressive, totally addicting, can do practically everything but make coffee. But the display is so damn small and not all aps let you zoom in. Otherwise, it was a near perfect device for me. I returned it because I think the timing of my purchase was wrong. They're coming out with all these new phones right now (tmo has a couple coming out in the next couple of months, including one with the latest Android OS and a sliding tactile KB, and even BB is making another one with a bigger screen as we speak, so I decided to just wait a couple more months and see what happens. If the new phones are unimpressive, then I guess I'll just reorder the BB. Also, I really would like to see the N1 in person one more time before I sign another 2 y K with anybody. Sooooooooo there you have it, my search for the "perfect" smartphone resumes ... thoughts? comments? |

Have you tried the Palm Pre yet? The latest (Plus) version looks great.
I might actually get that instead of the N1... Still, I'm in no rush to swap my BB 8820 just yet.

If you can wait, rumor has it they're making another N1 with a tactile KB called the Enterprise? I forget where I put that link now. Was playing with a BB Tour yesterday and I noticed the kb is much better (raised keys) than the 9700 I had (keys are more cramped together). You wouldn't know it by looking at pics of the 2 devices next to each other, because they KB looks identical bu it's really not. Of course, the tour doesn't have the track pad and that track pad ![]() is 100% better than the trackball.N1 should have a trackpad IMO |

OK. I've been patiently waiting ... the temptation to just order the N1 is great but there are all these phones coming out between now and June, so might as well just sit tight for just a little while longer to be sure I get something I won't regret
Waiting is hard, though, let me tell ya. Today they came out with this at CTIA http://www.phonedog.com/2010/03/24/s...l-anyone-care/ looks pretty f'n awesome sighI have a feeling the phone line up is going to be shaken up quite a bit in the next 3 months, and that's for all the carriers. |
