I'm not sure if this is normal, but I was checking the pulleys I installed, well the waterpump nst pulley is starting to get engraved into. Meaning the belt is digging into the pulley so that theres an engravment from the belt in it is this normal if anyone knows what i am talking about?

Yes, that is normal, everything will wear off eventually, even the strongest materials, just give it enough time and friction. The OEM water pulley is painted black, but when I took mine off it had a shiny strip where the belt makes contact.

Think of it almost as an infinite polishing machine

so eventually overtime I will have to replace the pulley? Is there a set certain amount of miles that NST recommends to replace it if so? It has been about 25-30 thousand miles since I installed these. I think it is also why my belt is squeaking everytime i start up because it is loose due to friction engraving its place in it lol

Hmm, honestly, I don't know, but then aluminum is lighter and softer than steel, so I wouldn't be surprised at all if it wears off much quicker. Can you really see/feel a groove where the belt sits? If it's just polished shiny I wouldn't worry too much. It would be interested to compare with an older OEM water pulley, see if you get the same wear after a while.

My belt is squeaking too, 1 in 10 starts I'd say, because I couldn't get it as tight as it should be. But I'm working on adapting the Scion xD belt tensioner to the Yaris and if I can make it work, I'll post the DIY
