Almost had this happen to me once while changing a flat. The OEM scissor jack moved while lifting and twisted slightly (like it was gonna buckle and give-out). Lucky for me I got the job done without anything bad happening. Since then I keep a small floor-jack in the car.
Also ditched the crappy OEM lugwrench for an old-school 4-way for better leverage.
