what I don't like is the fact that I have to turn off the engine to use the key if someone needs to take something out of the trunk.

I dont even have the fob, but one feature i like is that if you turn the key clockwise twice in a row in the drivers door, it unlocks all three. never saw that before.

I wish our cars did this, but I know on his 02 Golf and 09 Sportwagen, if you turn the key to unlock, then turn it again and hold it, it opens all the windows. Closes all of them when you turn it to lock and hold it.

I'm pretty sure that one did because I remember telling the guy at the dealership "dang, I'm gonna have to get up and lock the trunk manually every time now?"
Anybody else on here ever owned a CRX before? somebody please set me straight if I'm wrong. I'm pretty sure my trunk auto-locked.

5 door LB with power experience: when it's unlocked it stays unlocked, even when i open and close the hatch, until I press the lock button on my key. It would be nice to have a lever that unlocks the hatch in the back. Iono about something that autoopens the hatch, i'm afraid it'd swing up and wack somebody.

Yeah, It's pretty annoying,
I've gotten into the bad habit of not locking it unless I have valuables in the car. I keep my car REALLY cleab and empty and all my stuff is insured...probably still not a good idea though, Though I can say that as annoying as it is its also a great theft deterrant! Most people in my experience that haven't used a yaris walk up to it and can't figure out how to open it.. NOBODY thinks to push the lock in to release the hatch. Its really funny to tell dumb people to open the hatch....

my peeve is that the hatch lock isn't wired for the alarm system for some reason (i.e. as a third door). so you can lock/unlock and open the hatch and the alarm will not go off. dealer installed toyota alarm BTW.....dealer said that's the way it is....

I actually like how the hatch locking works. My biggest problem with the Yaris is how Toyota America gave us such crappy options compared to the rest of the world.

They eliminate many of the features that are standard on the JDM cars when they export them to certain countries simply to increase their profits. As long as people contiue to purchase their 'stripped down" versions of their cars, they will continue this practice. |

When you think about it, the same car is made in Japan with all of these options included in the base model. Then you have to consider that probably 95% (if not more) of all Yarii sold in the US have the "convenience" package. So they actually have to make a special run just to manufacture these so-called base models, carry extra inventory (think about the back seats), etc. So you're Toyota, and you're probably coming closer to breaking even on the cost savings vs. inventory and overhead (shipping, etc) to manufacture these cut down models on a car far less profit margin. Why would you do that? I think it's all marketing. If enough people pursued base model vehicles to the point that they started taking their business to a competitor willing to meet the demand for those base models, then they may change their strategy. But until then, you'll continue to have to negotiate harder on the mark up they throw on the convenience package or walk away. Hope that helps to explain. EDIT: Oh yeah, if this is a wish list thread ... I wish the manuals came with a 6 speed with a much lower 6th gear, like .6. Actually I really do like the way the hatch works, I just wish you could lock all or unlock all on the hatch lock the same way it works on the doors. |

Actually Toyota often doesn't even offer features that are avalible or even standard for the JDM in many other markets.

Hippity-Hop?
Does anyone else feel too "high in the saddle" in this car? Although there are many things to love about the Yaris, I have from the beginning been uncomfortable with the handling (the steering wheel feels like it's going to bounce out of my hands) and the too-tall "springy" ride. I can't decide if the seats are too soft (which they are to offer any support on long drives) or my particular car has been jacked up or what, but it reminds me of riding one of those Hippity-Hop balls with the handle when I was a kid. It does seem my "springs" are too visible when viewed from behind and the car should ride/sit lower to the ground...
Anyone else??? I'm ready to ask the dealer to fix it...

Ain't it awful? I was about to trade it in for a Hyundai Accent when they started having all the recall problems, so I figured I'd better hang in here and support Toyota. No complaints except that it's...
Weird-feeling... Finally filled up all the strange little holders, lol... |

Well... Can I get an answer or just ribbed for still being maladjusted to the Yaris, LOL? Where else to post this?
I test drove the Accent and, lo and behold, actually felt like I was making contact with the ground and not just bouncing around... |
