Yeah! Displacement is a factor... as well as the other factor - gearing! I would imagine with a 4:11 posi and a large bore cu engine you would be cranking the high RPM's cruising...

Honestly I don't see why people don't invest in a 6 speed tranny swap for the yaris, acceleration and mpg would improve dramatically. D-4D Diesel Engine with 6 speed manual from Europe's yaris would give you about 15-20 mpg increase if you know how to drive.

Give the DIESEL credit for most of that mileage increase.
That said, a six-speed manual would be sweet.

I want one! I hate the unnecessarily high RPMs on the highway, and my cruising speed is only 50.
