i cant believe someone actually put ameci's! it's not because they're bad, on the contrary their cheese pizza is practically unbeatable for it's price. it's just that this chain is so rare! i can only name two locations, and one of them was right beside my high school, so hearing the name of this joint always brings back fond memories. NEVER thought i'd be reading about ameci's in this forum! penguin's was also one of the very first soft serve yogurt place around in socal, but they're being demolished by coldstone's nowadays...thumbs up for this very worthy list!

Hmm here you don't see so many standalone food franchises, they're usually located in shopping malls. Plenty of small restaurants and cheap road side stalls though!

Do I ever live in the sticks!? I've never even heard of half of those places. We have a Dairy Queen, Blimpie's, Subway, Dominos & just finally got a McDonalds. The only thing I'll eat from DQ is ice cream & only get fries from McDonalds. The sub shops aren't bad, but we like a local pizza place better than Dominos. If we want anything else, it's at least a 7 mile drive to the next town. I'd KILL for a Longhorn's within 10 miles.

Haha, I was born in Santa Clarita. I used to go to the Ameci's right there... I think it was by Saugus High. Don't tell me... haha.

They have Krystal burgers in the freezer section of the grocery store--not quite as good as the real thing but a close facsimile (if you don't nuke it to death). Did you ever go to the Varsity during your time in Hotlanta?

No Krystal or Whitecastle in Utah. I'm headed to North Carolina this weekend though, and I'm gonna eat like 25 of those things!!! Nobody mentioned Weinerschnitzel yet. That place is tasty.
