Sedan better on highway than LB?
HI all,
I am going to get a LB 3 door or the Sedan, the deciding factor is whether the Sedan feels more planted and suitable for long trips every couple months (i.e. not bobbing all over the place and lots of road noise like hatchbacks of yesterday.) Also, winter driving would fall under this same category. Is the Sedan better in winter? If it isn't an issue whatsoever, I may go with the LB. Thanks |

The sedan should be slightly better for highway, given it's taller gear ratios and slightly lower highway revs. The longer wheelbase should also make slighty more stable. But given the lack of power, I prefer the HB's extra kick. IMO, and slightly more aggressive suspension. But both work perfectly fine for either application, so just test drive them. The HB should do better in Winter too due to a shorter wheelbase and more weight over the front tires, but again, it's not a HUUUUGE difference. TEST DRIVE TEST DRIVE TEST DRIVE.
IMO, the biggest deciding factor is how many passengers you take with you and whether or not you pack their gear with you. Without folding the rear seats, the HB has nearly zero cargo capacity. With the sedan, you can fit 5 people and still fit tons of stuff in the trunk. It's a big difference. But if you need to move a lot, you can flip those seats and fit a TON of stuff in the HB. |

I believe the NA spec. Yaris has the same gearing for both sedan and LB. And it's hard to believe but the sedan is said to be slightly lighter than the LB.
We just returned from a 7 day trip. Clocked about 1500 miles with three adults and one child all comfortable. Four suitcases plus loose items all fit in the trunk albeit at tight load.
