What would the labor costs be to install a spoiler?
I'd like to eventually get a rear spoiler for my '10 Yaris Sedan. I found a site that had a spoiler with a taillight for $130 and to have it painted the exact color of your car was an extra $80. Approximately how much would the installation costs be from a mom & pop shop? Has anyone had this done yet?

Where are you getting the spoiler from and what style is it? I ask because I got one through a dealer on Ebay and am very happy with it, but it was already painted. Heres a link to the current ad they run. Good quality, paint matched exactly, packed good and shipped within 2 days. I was very nervous about mounting it, measured several times, walked around it, measured some more, .......
Scary stuff drilling into your car, but worth it, since the actual install was two bolts and some wire. Let me know if you decide to do it yourself and I'll give you what tips I can. |

I agree with Sickpuppy1, do it yourself, you get a better sense of completion out of it, and its fun measuring 10 times before you drill.
If you do it yourself, measure, measure, measure, drill (use a pilot if you need to, dont dent your trunk), brush some paint on the bare metal, then use some butyl tape or the like on the nuts to prevent leakage. I'd say if you take it to a body shop maybe $40-80 to install it. |

My spoiler cost me about $100 to get painted and installed along with plugging up the holes from my OEM spoiler.

I went the ebay route about 2 years ago. I got mine for 130 I believe, painted and everything, its the knockoff oem style but still looks good and led's still work. The instructions that came with it sucked, I looked up the oem instructions and did it in about 20 minutes. Of course I spent days mentally preparing and going through everything in my head. Be careful drilling into the deck. I did wander a bit at first. Luckily the spoiler covers it up. Plus nothing is perfect forever right?

Does anybody have a picture of the inside trunk lid mounting area on a sedan spoiler, I have a spoiler that I would like to use but would like to get an idea how the OEM one attaches!

I did my own on the liftback.
A LOT harder install. I bought the real Toyota spoiler. The templates they included were off about an inch, so I did it by laying the spoiler over the rear hatch and noting where to drill...
