yes, the xa/xb/echo share transmission mounts. the echo trans is a bit longer, so a swap from an xB to echo would yield slightly more room on the end. the xB comes with an 8 bolt differential, so i'm not sure why you'd be concerned with using an 8 bolt lsd in your 8 bolt transaxle ?

For anyone racing their car up and down hills and around corners, the final drive change is the best value for money performance increase I reckon you can do (short of forced induction, if allowed).

The difference for drivers of Echo's is phenomenal. I have a TRD 4.7:1 final drive in my car and there is a steep hill near me that I used to only be able to do about 60kph up it. Basically as soon as I changed into 2nd the gear, the engine didn't have enough power to accelerate and my speed would drop. With the new final drive, I am still slowly accelerating at 80 kph by the time I reach the top of the hill.

The 8 bolt is just a lot more common and easier to find (than the echo's 6 bolt). I just wanted to make sure the xb trans would fit in so I could just have the xb trans with an LSD ready for spring to go in... With a new clutch and flywheel. Thanks for the info!
