Try living in another country where you might be paying over $8/gal.
I bet you have no problem paying $1-$1.50 for a 16 ounce bottle of water though. Or $6.00 for a bag of popcorn (worth about 25 cents) at the movie theater.
And do you think it's the big evil oil companies charging a ridiculous $2.50?
Actually, they get a small portion of it. The US government makes more on gas doing NOTHING than the oil companies that do all the work. Then of course there's all the other people that have to get paid. Trucking companies/drivers and gas stations.
A lot of work goes into getting a gallon of gas into your gas tank. Isn't it already a good deal that it's cheaper than soda?

Yes, $2.50 is absurd. There is no reason for gas to be this expensive. And if the US government actually allowed companies to exploit the amazingly huge amount of natural resources we have in our country, the price of gas would be a ton cheaper.
But no, every other country on the planet can drill for oil in the Gulf of Mexico, but not the US.
And sorry, but just because the gas was more expensive at one point does not make what we pay now cheap. I know all about the absurd taxes on oil, and that is nothing if this idiot of a president gets his way. There should be zero taxes on oil and gas.
If America wants to get out of debt, we need to exploit our own natural resources, and not import everything from foreign countries.
