I have the 3dr with a manual and started out at 36 - 38 and steadily crept up to 44 avg now.
The things that made the biggest difference for me: 1. Tire pressure (at least make sure they are inflated to the door placard value) 2. ScanGuage (instant MPG and tach functions) 3. Practice on the commuting route. (look for downslopes, stop lights versus stop signs) Taking your foot 1-2 notches off the gas if not completely off, makes a difference on a route that you know well. Coasting up to major stops, or on any downslope can become a habit if you pay attention to it for a month or so. I also use 0W Mobil 1, but I can't judge if that helped more than 1 Mpg. Same goes for a Shark Fin antenna and K & N Filter. A cheap $15 solar battery charger seems to make 1.5-2.0Mpg difference parked in the sun for 9+ hours. (not logical, but definitely repeatable, and a better value than the antenna or filter) |
