My first clean install of windows Xp

I see where you're coming from. Vista is mostly to blame for giving people that mentality. I didn't even bother making the upgrade to Vista, I just stuck to XP.

BUT, Windows 7 is great, it's everything Vista should have been. I haven't had any real issues with it. And now that I've been using it since the release candidate, I can't imagine going back to XP.

I think the reason companies are slow to make the leap to 7 is mainly due to the cost of upgrading and the mentality of "if it ain't broken, don't fix it," which is understandable. A lot of companies use programs that run best with XP that either haven't been updated for 7 or they have but the company isn't willing to spend the money and the administrative burden of doing the upgrade.

But for an individual, it's totally worth the upgrade. And if you're not willing to put a couple of hundreds into Bill's pocket, then there's other methods of getting it
