!! Speedometer Needle Problem !!!

Now I've heard from someone that the best thing to do is to take out your Cluster guages wire plugs and fix the needle back to 0 and plug the wires back in and the problem will be fixed, I'm scared of doing it because I think taking it out would cause some big mishap so, can anyone tell me if it's ok to do that ? what you have to do know is open it back up.
Spin the needle to the right untill you feel some resistance and push a little further.
then spin the needle back and you should feel some resistance before you hit zero.
push it till its exactly at zero. you may hear clicking, but don't worry its not breaking.
