1 piece wheels that are made to be lightweight, racing wheels, yes. But an old school wheel like the Enkei 92 - most 2 or 3 piece wheels were made with forged barrels/lips which result in lighter weight and more durability. So I'm guessing the original Enkei 92 will be a lot lighter than the re-makes.

I'm no expert, just what I've read on teh interwebz. Also just discouraged they would re-make a legendary wheel but make it a cheaper quality, 1 piece cast. It's like they are Rota'ing themselves. (yes, thats a verb now.)

Cast wheel is way to broad of a term. Yes, gravity cast wheels are heavy and weak. But a low pressure cast, high pressure cast or spun cast wheel is suitable for the track. Most of the current Enkei stuff is top notch, and I would argue that what is crap today (as far as wheel tech standards) is better than when that wheel was originally built.

We raced all year on a set of cheap 11lb low pressure cast wheels, no problems. And these were wrapped with a 10.5" wide slick. That is a stress test.

And I have seen just as many SSR forged wheels fail as I have seen cast Rota's. There is always more to the story than a simple failure.
