Simota SRI rubs driver side headlight
My Simota SRI is such a tight fit that the cone is packed against the driver's side headlight.
I'm wondering if anyone else had this issue and what they did to alleviate it. Yes, I tried the search function but I couldn't find anything relevant. |

Pictures would probably help a lot.

The cone is touching the driver's side headlight.
It's not a full connection of the whole cone, just part of it closest to the front of the car. Last edited by RogueYaris; 08-26-2011 at 08:33 PM. |

you're sure everything is pushed together tightly?

Ok, here's a question:
Is it supposed to be a metal to metal contact between the intake and the engine? |

how about a picture of the other end?
I think you might be able to jam that filter on a little bit more? It may just be a tight fit on the sedan; I know these work fine with the liftback. It also doesn't look like there's a problem in terms of function.

It's on a liftback :p and functions great.
I'm just worried about scuffing up the driver's side headlight. I know, shouldn't be a big deal in terms of resale value, but you never know. Next time I'm tooling around in my engine, I'll try to snug things up even more but I thought everything was tight when I put it in. |

No, I don't think you want the intake pipe to be touching the aluminum throttle body. So you could try to pull that one out a bit. But then loosen up the other connection points and try to push those sections closer together.

It's not touching as it is.
Been a lazy bastard since I got back and haven't done anything with it yet. Then again the game I'm playing right now is down for maintenance. Great time to look like a crackhead and tinker with my car. |

I just went out and tried shoring things up but I don't really have any space left.
Is there any sort of lubricant that I can put on there that would make it slide easier and not mess up the engine or rubber? |
