Snow tires

With snow in the forecast for north east PA, I threw on the snows this afternoon. Not bad looking on the car for painted steelies and trim rings.

Crack in the bottom of my bumper.. damn squirrels running out in the road

And no TPMS in these rims means i have the light on my dash all winter long Just hit 74,000 miles too. Car still running like a champ

actually, you should put on your winter tires when the weather is consistently below 8C (40F?)

all seasons lose significant traction below those temps.

calling them snow tires isnt exactly correct.....sure they're good in snow, but theyre meant for colder temps since the rubber compounds are softer than a standard all season (or NO season as i prefer to call them)

i went into wintermode this week, too

Yup! Another month for me, though, or when temps get below 40 all day. Otherwise it's like running on gummy bears....

Heh! Yeah, you Inlanders are going to get hit. It looks as though us shore-dwellers in RI will be spared more than a couple of inches.

btw... 2 hours after the picture above

3 inches extra slippery wet snow on now frozen road

1st test of michelin x-ice xi2 up and down my 'hood, which is all 10 to 14deg drumlins...

these tires are un-believable compared to M+S tires. no threat of getting stuck at all, at most the traction control may kick in a bit climbing, but the tires really hook up.

I am blown away at how good a studless snow tire can be on the lightweight Yaris. best investment evar!
