It's all about weight.
Would you enjoy driving an older car as a DD? These older fuel efficient cars didn't have any of the new technology we all take for granted. Also, crash standards have added A LOT of weight to modern cars, which of course offsets fuel economy. Last thing, highway econ testing was done at lower speeds back then. |
