Here's a pic from under the front of my 09. I think you are talking about the two overlapping plastic panels across the front?

What's the brass fitting at the oil drain? How does it work?

Thanks,

Thanks,
It's a Fumoto oil drain valve. During an oil change you install it in place of the drain bolt. From that point forward you simply push and then turn the locking lever on the ball valve to drain the oil (without getting a drop on your hands).

Garm currently doesn't, but perhaps this discussion will persuade him to.

Just be cognizant of the fact that it does stick out about 1/2" lower than the stock plug. This might not sound like much, but if you are lowered or intend to go lowered it could be something to remember as it is possible that you could rub it going over something. Might not be an issue, but thought that I would put it out there. This is my first winter where I didn't remove my dropped springs and let me tell you that with 15" wheels I am constantly skipping off my undercarriage and exhaust system as an example.

What about in combination with one of Garm's mysteriously elusive underpanel kits? (#1 on my list of things I want for the Yaris.) I haven't seen any pics of the underpanel installed on any Yari, but would you assume it would help prevent that at all?

I've got the under panel and yes it covers the entire underside of the engine. No worries with a modified drain plug.
