Shell full synthetic 5w-20 ( SN/GF-5 ) : Used Oil Analysis ( U.O.A.) for '08 sedan ..
Looks quite good . Column 1 is the SHELL full synthtetic 5w-20 ( SN/GF-5 ) , 2 is SHELL full synthetic 5w-30 ( SN/GF-5 ) , and the 3 is PENNZOIL Yellow Bottle ( conventional ) 5w-30 ( SN/GF-5 ) . The Toyota ( Denso ) oil and air filter are used at all times . There was 40,080 miles on the engine when the oil / filter were changed and the oil sample taken . The Shell synthetic was applied at 35,650 miles . Time on oil : 9/18/11 > 1/24/12 . Will likely get another case ( 6 bottles ) of the SHELL full synthetic 5w-20 next month at BJs for $17.99 ( $3 a quart before tax ) . This sample was $4 a quart during a sale at BJs . Here's the sale at BJs , http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38096 . Your take on the performance of the 5w-20 ?

Here's the T.S.B. from TOYOTA in 2006 giving approval for lower weight oils for some TOYOTA / SCION vehicles . http://www.etimago.com/yaris/TSB/TS-...mendation).pdf . Had the service center email the TSB giving their O.K. to use the 5w-20 in the '08 sedan .

Just for clarification, you can use 0/5w-20 in a Yaris and it sill still be covered by warranty?

The TOYOTA customer relations in Califronia recently sent e-mail giving the okay for the 5w-20 not long after notifying them on this issue . Relates to the T.S.B. EG018-06 .
