If the mechanic told you they changed your timing belt, then you were scammed.

The Yaris doesn't have a timing belt LOL.

It has a chain that should last the life of the car, even if that's 500,000 miles. It may need adjustments, but rarely.

Even if it did have a belt, you wouldn't need to touch it until around 100,000 miles.
