Parts question

So yeah, I don't know shit about cars and I was wondering what I should be getting.
So I want a cold air intake, headers and an exhaust that is only loud on high rpm. And i have no clue on what is good or not. What makes the best sound or what is the most effective so i would like if you guys could tell me what you use and why you decided to go with them. And maybe slip a vid of the engine noise with the header and the cold air intake :)
Thanks!

With all due respect, do some searching and reading, and then post any particular questions you have.
The basic information you're looking for is readily available on this forum.

This will help you with your searches:

Intake (short ram): K&N, AFE
Intake (CAI): Injen, TRD, Fujita

Exhaust: Tanabe Medalion Touring is the most popular by far. Also DC Sports, Nitto, Megan Racing, Micro Image (center exit)

Header: Megan Racing, DC Sports, Weapon R

I will see the names but I wont see the reason why they bought them etc etc and that is what I'm looking for, I've been checking on the internet and it got me confused even more :/

I don't know if peices have to match to fit. Like if any header fits any exhaust etc etc

Hi Alex,

There's a handy search function near the top right hand corner of the page. If you want personal experiences of a product, simply enter the name of the product, click on "show posts", and you'll get a list of all the posts with the name of the product you selected.

I completely document my own detailed experiences with every product I buy, including pictures and video. Search for "tooter".

Could you also post some pictures of your car as it is now so that you'll be able to share your own experiences with others as you make changes to it.

There's lots of people here willing to help you spend your money!

What I personally have:

Intake - PRM Jetstream SRI

Why - because I was the test mule for developing the prototype. I also prefer SRI over CAI for ease of filter maintenance, and the lesser chance of it sucking up water.

Exhaust - Tanabe Medalion Touring

Why - I've always appreciated it's design and all stainless construction. Sound was what I wanted, throaty growl on acceleration, nice purr cruising.

As far as headers go, DC appears to be the most popular. Headers do not need to be matched to the exhaust.

You could also call (818) 610-3635 and have all your questions answered, and parts sent, with one conversation.

I second this. It would also be good to have a tape recorder and a lot of time. You'll learn things you didn't know you never knew you wanted to know.

I understand its the 1.8 motor but how off is that flange from the 1nz? If the midpipe is the same and its just a flange issue this might be a way to get long tubes on a yaris relatively easily without having to have custom ones made.

If the long tube header fits the Yaris (firewall clearance, etc.) the rest doesn't matter. I'd mate a custom exhaust to that and enjoy my 15-20 hp.

The only thing that really matters IMO is the header and clearance issues.
