Perhaps someone else will answer that, because I know nothing about the larger wheel sizes.

I do know that the lower the tire aspect number, the shorter the treadwear life. I stayed with 60 series because there are a lot of long lasting high mileage tires to choose from.

IMO, 16x7s would be a better choice with the 205 tires. You may rub in the rear over hard dips when carrying rear passengers or cargo.

Also, you have the option of +40 offset. That gives good tire placement up front, and paired with 5mm spacers in the rear would be visually stunning.

Actually, I believe that is the law just about everywhere, even here in the US. It's just never enforced (except for crackdowns on cruisers). Kind of like laws that prohibit any part of the chassis from being lower than the bottom of the rim.

If you've ever seen how an open wheel car can launch another open wheel car if the tires rub, you can see why the law was created...

if that were the case almost all 4x4's and most donks would not be street legal.

Yeah what about all those lifted diesels that barely fit inside the lane. I have never seen anything being done about that law. Is it actually a law?

no. it could be in the UK, but not in any US state that I have seen. It would make most farm equipment and construction vehicles illegal to drive on the street.

There is DMV wording in many jurisdictions, including several US states, which indicates wheels cannot protrude past fender walls.

You will rub.

With 5mm spacers, ET is +30 = rub
55 series sidewall = wheel diameter larger than OEM = rub

Since you are so hooked on this style wheel, get the 16x7s and live worry free.

I noticed that site doesn't sell 16x7", only 16x8" available with a +35 offset. If you purchase these, you DO NOT need 5mm spacers on the rear.
If you do not plan on lowering your car, 205/55/16 tyres are fine, although they will make your car look look a bit tall.
I suggest 205/50/16 or 205/40/16 if you're going with their wheel and tyre package for around the same price.
I don't know what kind of driving conditions you have there but that's my suggestion.

It's because I live in the uk :/ iv looked on well over 20 English wheel sites to try and find the 16x7 but they just aren't over here. So basically ditch the spacers and fit a lower profile tyre is what your saying then ?? :) cheers

Yep, exactly. Get the 16x8 +35, and running a 205/45/16 would be ideal.

As Yarisugi said, a 205/40/16 or 205/50/16 will work, the 40 will just be a little short, and the 50 will be a tad tall.

Those are absolutely beautiful...

I got the silver ones and will likely be spraying the centers flat grey for a "cast magnesium" look.

I also got +35's, (however in 15 inch) and the curved wheel spokes did not clear the front brake calipers. They needed thin 5mm spacers and longer lug nut studs to fit. They're very simple to install, by the way. I also added 5mm spacers and longer studs on the rear to keep everything in the same relation.

With 15x7 +35, 5mm spacers make them +30, and 195/60 tires there are no rubbing issues.

The Rotas are prone to more rubbing issues because they have an outer rim which protrudes far beyond the spokes. Whereas all of the modern designs have the spokes at the outer edge of the wheel.

So a 5mm spacer on the front is essential. A small amount of rub won't be the end of the world

16x8 with a 205 should be fine ??

5mm spacer was essential with the 15" tooter has mounted. Most likely not required with the 16" you will be getting. 205/45 rubber is good.
