ok... I was really shopping for a corolla... since it is like a cow... my last one transmission die and even though it is fixed now, I cannot trust it for long trip.
So we have to buy a new (er) car for 90% city rough driving and 10% long tip on the weekends (about 250 mile round trip, twice a month). Saw the Yaris and I read up on it like a few years ago about the great green vehicle. While I care about the environment, I care about our wallet on the gas just as much. It will be a little car for me to go to work and drop kids off daily and to do our twice a month weekend trips for the family of 4. Kids are still young for now, I do not know how they will enjoy sitting in the back seat later on... my hubby will drive the fixed corolla to work now instead of his old pathfinder (with 12-14 MPG). so overall the gas saving would be the Yaris (32MPG?) vs the pathfinder (13 MPG) With a quick math, if the Yaris (now has 33200 in it) can last till 150k mile... which is about 8 years later, the gas saving just paid for the Yaris plus half of a 2016 model Yaris :D How will the Yaris hold up for medium distance trip (150 mile) or long trip (800 mile)? I am on the east coast. |
