Depends on what the car needs, or will need soon.

If you know you'll need new brake pads next year, grab a nice set of pads to help you stop quicker.

If you know you'll need new tires, throw winters on your current rims and get summers next year.

If your springs are sagging or shocks/struts not perfomring well, that'd be a good time to upgrade to better units.

Basically make sure your car is working properly and in mechanically great shape to begin with. Put in a better part if you need to get it there (like the brake pads or struts).
Then start with the basic performance mods and work your way up.

If everything's working good on the car, my first mod would be the tires. They're the only thing that connects your car to the road.

It helps a bit. There's no single mod that will make you go fast (besides turbo)
It seems it's a combination of upgrades that makes a difference.
I have an aem intake but the homemade one seems to work just as well

JRP's got their midnight sale tomorrow and Saturday, might be able to get something there.

Frankly, the intake would be last on my list... exhaust and header would be first.

ebay, kijiji, forums, often the same places that would sell performance yaris stuff, keeping in mind that most parts aren't interchangeable between yaris and echo.
scion xb parts are often interchangeable but you have to do your research: here's a start: http://www.microimageonline.com/foru...p-xB-Relations

well, id say yes since we turbo'd our 02 echo with an auto, it has just over 200,000km. all depends on what you want to spend and what you want to get out of it.

I was in the shop today getting an oil change, mechanic suggested a better drop-in air filter (K&N, his words), CAI too, but you have to maintain it. Not sure of that myself, I'm guessing additives and spraying it periodically, and a cat back exhaust upgrade. With limited funds, those are the ones I'd go with...when I get the funds.

well like i said im not sure what i want to do and how much i want to spend so maybe turboing is the way to go. did you see alot of difference with the turbo? also when you turbo something you obviously have to change some parts in the engine no?
