I just bought this car used with 46k on it and it has brand new tires on it. Toyota dealership must have put them on there.

A road that was paved recently seems to increase the frequency of this tires audible signature!! Ok, did that sound technical enough and I know it's not a curtain (certain) road, fat fingers make typing difficult!

i just changed mine after 88000 miles oem tires. I got 185/60-15 Michelin Defenders. They ride nice and are much quieter. just bought them yesterday.

I thought it might be a local term. Quite a few people in California would have puzzled looks on their faces if one used the term 'feeder road' or 'feeder', but anyone with a Texas DL who has driven anywhere in the Texas Urban Triangle (DFW-Houston-San Antonio) would be familiar with those terms.

Quite a few other members enjoy their Michelin Defenders as well. Great durability re your OEMs! I made it to a bit over 71,000 miles on my OEMs. My best so far on my Yaris = 85,009 miles on my first set of 4 Firestones (now on my 2nd set of 4 of the same Firestones).

Possibly a bad example. I meant it re relation to Freeways/Interstates and the only locations I can think of (off the top of my head) in CA are at points along I-80 between Vallejo and Sacramento.

Bridgestone RE92s on our 2011 3-door are shot after 16k miles. They do fine when it's dry (are very loud, though) but are downright dangerous when roads are wet. Lots of ABS and stability control intervention during calm driving by my better half, plus unintentional axle-hopping wheelspin.

People here are happy with the Defenders? I'm waffling between those and the summer version of the Energy Saver, which I presume wouldn't have the wet weather performance.

My OEM Badyear LS tires only lasted 40,000 and mostly highway miles. My Hankook H727 should at least get me to 70,000 I hope.
