Most Dealers around here don't even have a single Yaris on the lot, that's what made it so hard for me to find one! I ended up buying mine from a friend who was switching to a Prius C, absolutely love my Yaris!! My Sister-In-Law just bought a '13 Corolla, but I bet if they'd still made the 4 door Yaris Sedan, she'd have gotten it instead.......

And that is the really funny thing there. I have always felt that the Yaris has more room inside to include the sedan over the modern Corollas.

Japanese built -US market

Both our Yaris and Scion xD were built in Japan, and that played a large part of our decision. Baseless decision? Maybe. Maybe not. But the new Corollas cant make that claim here.

We also have 2001 Corolla Which weve owned since new which has taken a lot of abuse (two sons...) and still runs well. Very well. Japanese built.

Have also owned 3 Tundras in our family, and frankly NOT the same Toyota experience as we are used to. Built in....the US. Sad to say.

i think the corolla is pretty bland, can't comment on fuel economy. i like the new styling of the yaris exterior but like the interior design of the old yaris. i like where the gauges are in the center and where the cup holders are located at. even the 3 glove boxes-my niece always goes with when i go car shopping and she looks for cup holders first to see if i will like them in the new cars, lol. yaris are in short supply here by me in the suburbs of chicago and i would love to drive one. i am not a person who keeps her car forever and i would like to get another car but nothing screams buy me! the chevy spark does spark my interest though

I like the center gauge cluster as well. Once I got used to that, I vastly prefer it. It's annoying having the steering wheel in the way of the gauges. Plus other people can see the cluster easier, and remind you if you're about to run out of gas :P

Unless you have your AFR gauge mounted there too

IIRC, one poster a couple of years ago wrote that the only thing he didn't like about the center cluster is that it allows his mother-in-law to give 'back seat driver input' because she can easily see the speedometer from the back seat .

I think she's crazy, but I'm going to let you guys convince me that the current top of the range Yaris is a better car than the mid range Corolla with sunroof from 2 years ago.

Your input is appreciated.
Has she seen the new Corolla? Perhaps it will interest her.

Production has just begun.

Centre? Behind the wheel? I vote for the Centre simply because I find that there is far less dazzle at night when the gauges are out of my line-of-sight. Of course, 30 years of driving Morris Minors may have had some influence...
