I don't think that either. Toyota has de-prioritized the yaris in a big way. they want to push the corolla and camry to the nth degree. there are only just over 2000 yarii available for sale in the entire country. there are over 13,000 fiestas for sale. if they brought more cars into the market they would certainly sell more.

personally I don't care about the sales numbers. the current yaris is exactly what I wanted...a simple, efficient, reliable small hatch with the gauges where I wanted them on my '07 yaris along with a less noisy cabin, better road manners, and a less bubbly "cute" shape. I will drive it for 200,000 miles and then see what the car market looks like. maybe by then we will be driving these:

Good to know you think the cabin in the Gen 3 is less noisy and that it has better road manners. Don't agree with you re the dash/gauges, but re looks I agree re the 5-door (3rd Gen over 2nd Gen), but I still like the 2nd Gen 3-door over the 3rd Gen 3-door.

LOL re the pic. I started thinking about the names. George, Jane, Judy, Elroy (the dog)...I can't remember the little boy's name. When I was little, I guess I was paying too much attention to Judy to remember what the little boy's name was .

P.S. Decided I had this check this on Wikipedia. Elroy was the little boy. I had forgotten the dog's name was Astro. I remembered Mr. Spacely and Mr. Cogswell, but I had completely forgotten about Rosie and Orbity. I also didn't know that The Jetsons was originally a prime time series. I watched it on Saturday mornings when I was a kid.

When I saw your member name at the end of this thread, my first thought was "I'll bet Astroman didn't forget the name of the dog" .
