P0138 is an error for the second O2 sensor (the one that is after the catalytic converter). It is not too bad to replace, as long as you can get under the car. The other end plugs into a connector under the center console near the gas pedal.

Thanks, CTScott, do I need to remove the passenger seat to remove the second O2 sensor?

No. It comes through the floor right under the center of the dash. You will probably have to pull the AC controls to get to it.

You could wait and see if the code comes back. 77k Km does seem early, but there are a few things, including bad fuel that could foul one prematurely.

Going to bump this one old thread and ask: Any harm in driving the car with P0138 for a longer period? My car seem to work fine and MPG is average. Can I wait it out or should I not?
Thanks! |

No real harm in doing so. The purpose of the sensor is to show that the cat is still in place and that its catalyst is still good.
